About Lana & Charles

In 2000, while still living in New Jersey, we embarked on our dream of building a log home in Montana or Wyoming. We began doing our research by reading numerous magazines, books, and web sites. Talking with family, friends, and others who lived in, built, or had experiences with log homes was beneficial as we appreciated their knowledge and opinions. With this information we attended our first log home show where many suppliers represented their products and where educational workshops were available to provide additional information. All in all, our experiences at this point were somewhat daunting but necessary, and rewarding too, for we came to a point where we could take the next steps. 

As a native Montanan, Lana knew that the area’s weather could be extreme and unpredictable so a product to provide a warm, comfortable home was a priority. Our preferences included a desire for hand crafted logs and lots of design flexibility to allow for a significant amount of openness and light. From previous purchasing experiences we knew that we would prefer one-stop-shopping, rather than going from store to store for our weather tight structure. In reviewing and assessing the information we had gathered we determined that Expedition Log Homes was the company that met our requirements. A national log home company, Expedition Log Homes took a personal interest in guiding us. While their extensive floor plan portfolio gave us many options, we ultimately worked with Expedition’s talented design team to create a totally custom log home of our dreams.

In April 2004, while returning to Montana, we visited Expedition’s home office and mill in Wisconsin. The folks we met, the work they did, and their enthusiasm inspired us to become their Manufacturer Representatives for Montana and Wyoming. In so doing, we are now an enthusiastic extension of them and proudly share our services, products, and experiences with others who can benefit from all that Expedition has to offer.

In October 2004, Expedition delivered their Standard Materials Package to our site and our builder began to construct our dream home. Snow, rain, and below freezing temperatures slowed the construction crew down but did not stop them. Our dream came true in September 2005 when we moved in. WE LOVE IT!!! 

We are proud that the National Association of Home Builders Log Home Division presented Expedition Log Homes’ talented design team with an Excellence in Design award for our home, Tadmor Springs. Today, our exciting journey continues and wonderful things continue to happen for which we are always thankful and grateful.
